DMDIIJoin us at the Goose Island, Chicago DMDII facility for the latest progress on the DMDII Project 15-16-02: Democratizing the Model-Based Domain from Design to Verification: Automatic Generation of Optimized CMM Programs on the Digital Manufacturing Commons (DMC). This project, which involves Capvidia, Metrosage, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and the University of North Carolina Charlotte will show how optimized CMM programs can be generated automatically from CAD MBD models, and it will make this technology available to organizations large and small on the DMDII’s Digital Manufacturing Commons (DMC) platform. According to Metrosage, a leading authority in CMM simulation:

“The ability to generate optimized CMM programs directly from CAD geometries augmented by semantic PMI represents a dramatic innovation in dimensional quality control. Providing measurement uncertainty data is likewise a vital advance over current practice. Implementation of such capability on the Digital Manufacturing Commons (DMC) will make it accessible to a broad range of users, especially those from smaller manufacturing organizations.”

This automated process links together 3 software systems: MBDVidia from Capvidia, Pundit CMM from Metrosage, and CheckMate from Origin International. The smooth interoperability and automation in this workflow is enabled by the ANSI QIF standard. For some more background on this workflow, take a look at this 3 minute video.
