Extending PTC Creo to support MBD/MBE

MBDVidia for PTC Creo extends PTC Creo capability to fully support emerging neutral standards such as STEP AP 242 and ANSI QIF. As an add-in to the PTC Creo application, it provides smooth, precise and complete transfer of native PTC Model Based Definition (MBD) into STEP AP 242 and QIF data formats.

STEP AP 242 / ANSI QIF data formats

Direct support of STEP AP 242 and ANSI QIF standards in PTC Creo opens new possibilities to exchange MBD data with downstream processes such as manufacturing and metrology. The 3D model with PMI (Product and Manufacturing Information) can now be transferred without any information loss to downstream processes. STEP AP 242 with its embedded data and instructions helps downstream users understand and improve manufacturing and inspection processes. This is expected to reduce cycle times, costs, avoid duplication of effort, and lower the risk of errors, while increasing part yields and overall quality.

Current PTC Creo users can use STEP AP 242 today and immediately begin sharing, archiving and reusing intelligent 3D data. Support of data interoperability standards extends PTC Creo to comply with MBD/MBE requirements making it the preferred CAD solution for companies evolving into model centric design. MBDVidia for PTC Creo support of MBD streamlines integration with other processes, improves data exchange and facilitates long-term archiving of data.

MBDVidia for PTC Creo provides support of full STEP AP 242 MBD data model including semantic PMI, general notes, flat-to-screen annotations, metadata and saved views. The product supports different PMI presentation methods – polyline, tessellated and character-based. MBDVidia for PTC Creo complies with the latest STEP AP 242 recommended practices (Official Release, Version 4.0 October 13, 2014) and has been validated by the recommended tools and NIST reference models.

QIF MBD – Complete and Accurate 3D Model Definition with Semantic PMI

MBDVidia for PTC Creo converts any native PTC Creo MBD model into QIF and includes all semantic PMI, notes, metadata, and saved views. It is the first of its kind to provide a smooth, accurate and precise transfer of complete Model Based Definition (MBD) into the open ANSI QIF standard.
